World Tourism Day: picturesque locations of Ukraine

September 27 – World Tourism Day. The holiday was founded by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 1979 in the Spanish city of Torremolino. The purpose of the holiday is to promote tourism, highlight its contribution to the economy of the world community, and develop ties between the peoples of different countries.

In Ukraine, Tourism Day started being celebrated in 1998. Our country has many unique tourist locations that are worth visiting for both Ukrainian citizens and foreigners. Here are just a few:

Bakota (Khmelnytskyi Oblast)

Flooded village in Podillia, near Kamianets-Podilskyi. Today this place is known for its incredible scenery. The reserve is surrounded by rocks, which is why this location has its own unique microclimate. Here you can go fishing, book boat tours or just climb a cliff and enjoy the views.

Aktove Canyon (Mykolaiv Oblast)

Another unique and, at the same time, sparsely populated place, located in the Mykolaiv Oblast. Aktove Canyon is called the Devil’s Canyon or Little Crimea. The height of the rocks reaches 40-50 meters. In spring, in addition to breathtaking landscapes, you can also see unique mountain tulips that grow here due to the special climate.

Lake Synevir (Carpathians)

One of the most beautiful natural reservoirs in Ukraine with an interesting legend. This is the largest mountain lake in the Ukrainian Carpathians, located at an altitude of 989 meters above sea level.

Tunnel of Love (Rivne Oblast).

This is one of the most romantic locations in Ukraine, located near the village of Klevan, Rivne Oblast. The tunnel is a 5 kilometers long green corridor, created from trees that bend into an arch of a perfectly round shape. The railway tracks only complement the gorgeous landscape. Photo shoots of lovers are often organized here.

Lake Sivash (Kherson Oblast)

This is a huge bay of the Azov Sea with shallow water and peninsulas, bays, islands. The water in Sivash is very saturated with salt and keeps the body afloat on the surface, the average depth is 1 meter. The lake is worth visiting not only for its beauty, but also for its healing properties.

Stanislavsky Cliffs (Kherson Oblast)

One of the most picturesque and unusual places in Ukraine, located in the Kherson Oblast on the banks of the Dnipro-Bug estuary. It combines high clay slopes, golden-green steppe areas and mirror waters, which creates a beautiful view.
