Education of Turkish students in Ukraine and prospects of educational cooperation – Director of “Study in Ukraine” Dr. Olena Shapovalova held a meeting at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine

Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Dr. Olena Shapovalova met with the Adviser on Education of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine Professor Umit Yildiz on November 17, 2021 in Kyiv.

 

The parties discussed issues of education and stay of Turkish students in Ukraine. Thus, according to the data of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education, 3999 citizens of the Republic of Turkey are studying in higher education institutions of Ukraine.

 

Among the specialties most often chosen by Turkish students are medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and industrial pharmacy, river and sea transport, architecture and urban planning, law, software engineering, medical practice, construction and civil engineering, and computer engineering.

 

During the meeting, Dr. Olena Shapovalova stressed the importance of holding the Ukrainian International Education Forum in 2022 and the participation of Turkish universities. In addition, the parties discussed issues of cooperation with foreign higher education institutions to expand educational opportunities for Ukrainian youth.

 

Also, this week, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Andrii Vitrenko and Deputy Minister Vira Rohova met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yağmur Ahmet Güldere and a delegation of Turkish Maarif Foundation. During the meeting they discussed the prospects of educational cooperation between the states. In particular, Andrii Vitrenko proposed to organize a meeting with rectors of Turkish higher education institutions to establish the development and expansion of inter-university cooperation.
