The First Ukrainian International
Education Forum

The Forum will be held on March 22-23, 2018 in the main building of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Volodymyrska street, 60, Kyiv city.

The Forum will be opened with the welcoming speech of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mrs. Lilia Hrynevych «The Reform of Higher Education in the context of internationalization».

Forum working directions:

  • Ukrainian higher education quality security: strategies and perspectives;
  • Worldwide experience of higher education internationalization;
  • Higher education internationalization in Ukraine: international students and academic exchange programs;
  • Academic integrity in the global context and as a national demand;
  • Working with international students: achievements and perspectives.

On February 7, 2018, Ukrainian State Center for International Education celebrates its 15th anniversary! In 2002 an official Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the establishment of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education. This order committed the obligations of organization and coordination of study of the international students in Ukraine to our Center!

 

Our congratulations to the current staff of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education and everybody, who used to work here before, and also all colleagues and mentors!

 


Today, January 19, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine held a solemn presentation of gifts to the winners of the Contest among foreign students for the best photo, video and slogan about studying in Ukraine. The award ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Roman Greba and Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova.

Remind that the first place in the competition was taken by a student of the Kiev National University of Technology and Design Zehra Melikzade for her competitive video work.

The second place was shared by two students who presented two Institutions of Higher Education – Effiong Ekemini Okon from Sumy State University for his photo and slogan and Kiev National University of Technology and Design Eno Jijdiyah for his video.

Third place was taken by a student of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas Franke Francisco for his video.

After the awarding ceremony, a fruitful conversation was held on education in Ukraine. Foreign students – the winners of the Contest noted that the knowledge gained in Ukrainian universities, as well as friendly atmosphere around them, confirm the correctness of their choice of our State as a place for studying. This, they said, was the impetus for participating in the Competition and expressing their feelings to Ukraine in a creative way.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Roman Greba invited the winners of the Contest to a friendly dinner.

The organizers of the Contest among foreign students for the best photo, video and slogan about studying in Ukraine were the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ukrainian State Center for International Education.

 

 







On December, 18-19, 2017 the Director of Ukrainian State Center for International Education Dr. Olena Shapovalova visited Zaporizhzhia and took part in an official opening of the Moroccan culture center of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, and also celebrated the Arabian culture day.

 

669 Moroccan citizen studies in Zaporizhzhia State Medical University. Dr. Olena Shapovalova noticed, that this occasion is very significant and important for the university life, appreciated the contribution of the university’s staff into improvement of the international student’s everyday conditions.

 

Besides, on December, 19, 2017 Zaporizhzhia region and Oriental region of the Kingdom of Morocco have signed a trade, economical, technical, scientific and cultural cooperation agreement, which can also intensify and increase the Ukrainian-Moroccan educational relations.

 

The opening of Ukrainian cultural center in the Kingdom of Morocco is expected in 2018.

 

 


Congratulations to the winners of the photo, video, slogan contest for international students in Ukraine!

The aim of competition was the popularization of Ukrainian higher education, presentation the life and study of international students to Ukrainians and creating the atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect!

 

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Ukrainian State Center for International Education held this competition together. We received 30 photos, 9 videos, 6 slogans, 1 presentation, 3 essays from 18 participants!

 

The expert commission estimated the works of participants, which included:

 

  • the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Roman Greba;
  • the head of the Department of international cooperation and European integration of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Anna Novosad;
  • the Director of Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova;
  • the people’s deputy of Ukraine, the head of the education subcommittee of the Committee for education and science of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Taras Kremin’;
  • the rector of Taras Shevchenko university of Kyiv Leonid Huberskyy;
  • the rector of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Vil Bakirov;
  • the rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Ihor Tsependa;
  • the head of Public council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Yevhen Kudriavets.

 

The first place was taken Ms. Zehra Melikzade from Kyiv National Universtiy of Technology and Design for her video!

 

 

The second place shared two students –  Mr. Ekemini Okomnu from Sumy State University for his photo and slogan and Mr. Enyiekpon Eno Jedidiah from Kyiv National Universtiy of Technology and Design for his video!

 

 


 

And the third place Mr. Franque Fransisco  from Ivano-Frankivsk National University of Oil and Gas for his video!

 

 

The winners will be invited to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for getting the presents on January 2018. We congratulate the winners of the contest and appreciate everyone for an active participation!


During 9-13 November, the director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Dr. Olena Shapovalova conducted a working visit to the Republic of India as part of a Ukrainian delegation.

 

A number of important talks were held, aimed at promoting Ukrainian higher education.

 

In particular, during the meeting between the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Roman Greba and the Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources Development of India (which is analogous to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine), a consensus was reached on signing a comprehensive agreement on cooperating in the area of education between Ukraine and India. The agenda also raised the issue of providing annual scholarships for Indian students.

 

As a result of the trip, there was a decision to hold a meeting of rectors of technical Higher Education Institutions in Ukraine and India, as well as launching exchange programs for high school teachers.

 

The Ukrainian delegation also attended the Ficci Higher Education Summit 2017, organized by the Indian Government. This is a large-scale education conference, hosted by leading Indian universities, non-governmental organizations, renowned educators and numerous foreign guests.

 

The visit included a meeting at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India in which the issue of issuing student visas to Indian citizens for studying in Ukraine was discussed.

 

There are currently 8,293 international students from India studying in Ukraine and in 2017, 4,100 study visas were issued which is about 2.7 times more than in 2015.

 



During 30 October-6 November 2017, the director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Dr. Olena Shapovalova visited the Kingdom of Morocco as part of a delegation from Zaporizhzhia Oblast, which also included representatives of Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions in Dnipro and Ternopil.

 

Meetings were held with members of parliament and the President of the Chamber of Members of Parliament of the Parliament of Morocco, during which the issue of signing agreements between Ukrainian and Moroccan universities was discussed, which could become an important step in the development of bilateral relations in the area of education.

 

Meetings were also held at the Association of Pharmacists of Morocco. The main subject was the recognition of Ukrainian diplomas, as well as the issue of employing Moroccan graduates of Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions.

 

During the meeting at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Morocco, much attention was paid to the problem of issuing study visas to Moroccan citizens wishing to study in Ukraine.

 

Additionally, talks were held at the Fes-Meknes Province Council and the Fes-Meknes Chamber of Craftsmen, which also discussed the revitalization of Ukrainian-Moroccan cooperation in the area of education.

 

There are currently 4,608 international students from Morocco studying in Ukraine and most of them study medicine or pharmacology.

 



The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ukrainian State Center for International Education are jointly announcing a competition for international students looking for the best photo, video or slogan about studying in Ukraine.

 

The competition is open to all international students studying at Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions and colleges. Your creative content will be judged on your ability to answer the following questions:

 

• Why did you choose to study in Ukraine?
• Do you like studying in Ukraine?
• What do you know about Ukraine?
• How well acquainted are you with Ukrainian culture?
• What do you think about Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions?
• Who have you met or become friends with in Ukraine?
• What is Ukraine for you?

 

Please send us your electronic submissions to conference@studyinukraine.gov.ua no later than 1 December 2017.

Winners of the competition will be awarded amazing prizes.
 


On Tuesday 17 October, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Roman Greba and the director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova took part in the Ukrainian-Maltese Business Forum. The event was held in the presence of both heads of states – the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the President of the Republic of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
 
During the forum, B2B meetings were held with representatives from universities of Malta, in particular the University of Malta, a government university, in which 11,500 Maltese and international students study. Expanding cooperation between Ukraine and Malta in the area of education was discussed.
 
Roman Greba expressed confidence that the outcome of these meetings will give a powerful positive boost to Ukrainian-Maltese relations in the area of internationalizing of education. In turn, Olena Shapovalova once again confirmed that students from Malta are welcome to study in Ukraine. At the same time, she said that Malta’s experience in organizing language schools and other areas of educational tourism is interesting for Ukraine.
