On the 15th of March, 2019 the Second meeting with international students was conducted in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mr. Roman Greba and Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Dr. Olena Shapovalova headed the meeting. Representatives of the Information and Image Center and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine joined the meeting as well.

According to the discussion many questions had been raised, in particular which relates the quality of medical education, vocational examination “KROK”, recognition of educational documents.

International students were informed about possible changes to the legislation, which concerns different aspects of education in Ukraine. These changes will be represented during the Second Ukrainian International Education Forum on the 26-27th of March in Kyiv.

Representatives from the Embassies of Morroco, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon participated in the meeting with Arab students as well.

 



On 17-18 of January, 2019 Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education, Olena Shapovalova, was in Poland to participate in the “International students in Poland 2019” conference.

The Conference was organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland. The co-organizers of this event were the Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Higher Educational Establishments, Warsaw University of Life Sciences and Education Foundation “Perspektywy”. Overall, 40 speakers, representatives of governmental organizations, HEIs and educational public associations gave presentations.

Olena Shapovalova had a meeting with Waldemar Siwinski, the President of the Education Foundation “Perspektywy”, an agreement to deepen cooperation was achieved during this meeting.


On 29.11.2018 Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliia Hrynevych, Deputy Minister Roman Greba met with the Chargé d’affaires of Republic of Cuba in Ukraine Natacha Díaz Aguilera. Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova also participated in this meeting.

The parties agreed to start preparation of the Agreement concerning exchange of students, postgraduates and trainees. Olena Shapovalova spoke about the Ukrainian State Center for International Education and the benefits of education in Ukraine.

On 10.12.2018 in the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry the First Medical & Pharma Forum will be held. This important event might be interesting for educational representatives as well. Click here for details.


Ukraine took the first place in The Good Country rating in the category of Global Contributions to Science & Technology. This date is published on the web-site of the organization.

One of the main factors considered to determine the leaders in this category is the number of foreign students studying in the country relative to the size of the economy.

Right now 66310 international students study in Ukraine and this number is rapidly growing. As of 01.11.2018 the Ukrainian State Center for International Education had registered 45 675 invitations for study for new students.

Overall, Ukraine takes the 54th place in The Good Country rating. Compliers of the rating have the aim to estimate the input of countries in the development of humankind. The UN, UNESCO and other powerful international organizations data is taken to create the rating.

 

 


Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education, Olena Shapovalova, is in the Republic of Kazakhstan now.
On the 10th of November, 2018 the opening ceremony of the International Education Fair 2018-2019 was held in Astana. The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan opened the International Education Fair 2018-2019 with greeting word.
On the 12-13th of November, 2018 the Fair was held in Aturau, now the delegation works in Shymkent, and on the 17th of November it will arrive to Almaty.
During the Fair, Director of the Center Dr. Olena Shapovalova met with Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Mr.Erlan Sagadiev and President of the Center for International Educational Programs Mr. Zhanbolat Meldeshov (Scholarship of the President of Kazakhstan “Bolashak”). The Kazakh side confirmed their readiness to expand educational cooperation between our countries. It was agreed, that the Republic of Kazakhstan will pay much more attention to scholarship programs with Ukraine next year. The Ukrainian side emphasized on the Interstate agreement existing since 2010 between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan about cooperation in the educational and scientific fields, according to which Ukraine annually provides an equivalent exchange of students for full-time education: under the bachelor’s program – 30 persons and Master’s degree – 10 persons.

 

 

 


Delegation of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education is visiting the Republic of Kazakhstan now. Already, Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova participated in the II International scientific-practical conference “Development of social partnership for children’s interests” in Astana.

The meeting with the Head of JSC “Center for International programs” (scholarship  of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Bolashak” ) Mr. Zhanbolat Meldeshov was held.

In addition,  Olena Shapovalova together with Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Ivan Kuleba, Ukrainian diplomats, representatives of Ukrainian community and students from 47th Ukrainian Gymnasia in Astana wrote the Dictation of National Unity, dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian language.

In general, there is an intensive program planned for the visit to Kazakhstan, including visiting of many cities and participating in the International Education Fair.

 


On 01.11.2018 in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine the working meeting concerning the crossing of the state border of Ukraine by international students was held. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ukrainian State Center for International Education, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, State Migration Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Security Service of Ukraine took part in this meeting.

A number of important questions concerning the entry to Ukraine by international enrollees and students, immigration issues, questions concerning the reception of the temporary residence permits for international students in Ukraine were discussed.

Also, a problematic question concerning the taking of pictures for the temporary residence permits in turban for Sikh students because of their religious beliefs was raised.

As a result, it was decided to create a common working group concerning the regulation and solution of real problems, connected with coming and living for international students in Ukraine.

 

 


On the 29th of October, 2018 Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education, Olena Shapovalova held a meeting with the representatives of the Embassy of Ghana in Switzerland. During this meeting questions concerning the peculiarities of enrollment of Ghanaians to study in Ukrainian Universities were discussed.

We understand that in order to study Biological and Medical sciences Ghanaian students should have in their secondary school certificates the following subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry.

For other disciplines the minimum requirement is as follow:

English – D6

Maths (core) – D7

Integrated Science/Core Science – D7

All other elective subjects – minimum – D7.

All applicants must have passed at least six (6) subjects including Mathematics and English. There is no such subject in Ghanaian Secondary Educational System as Social Sciences. Irrespective of the total number of points, the grade E8 is not considered to be a pass.

 

 


Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova  together with  Yana Razumovska, representative of the Center, came to China with an official visit for 16th-22th of October 2018. The purpose of the visit was for the Ukrainian State Center for International Education to participate in the 19th International Higher Education Conference «China Education Expo 2018» together with Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University, Ternopil National Economic University, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and Private Higher Educational Establishment “Kyiv Medical University”.

A meeting with the leadership of the China Scholarship Council, as well as visits to the Beijing Foreign Studies University and the Center of Ukrainian Culture were held.

Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation held a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine in the People’s Republic of China Mr. Oleg Dyomin.

Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education Olena Shapovalova  told more about the Ukrainian State Center for International Education and peculiarities of higher education in Ukraine during the meeting with the director of international affairs of Chinese edition «Studying abroad» .

Chinese representatives have shown their interest in developing a relationship between Ukrainian and Chinese Universities, where priorities are technical, linguistic and art specialities.
