Obtaining a temporary residence permit

It is necessary to obtain a temporary residence permit in order to stay in Ukraine long-term. The permit is a document that certifies the identity of a foreigner and confirms the legal grounds for their temporary residence in Ukraine. The permit can be issued either at a territorial division of the State Migration Service of Ukraine or at the Center for the Provision of Administrative Services.

It can take up to 15 days to receive the permit, therefore it is necessary to submit documents for it no later than 15 days before the expiration of the visa or visa-free stay.

In order to receive a temporary residence permit, a foreigner must submit:

  1. a valid passport document of a foreigner or a document confirming a stateless person, with a type D visa;
  2. a page of a foreigner’s passport document with personal data, translated into Ukrainian and notarized;
  3. a valid health insurance policy for the entire period of validity of the permit and its copy;
  4. a document confirming the fact of studying in Ukraine (appropriately certified copies from the educational institution on the admission and on the established periods of study for foreign students);
  5. the obligation from the educational institution to inform the State Migration Service about the expulsion of the foreigner or stateless person from such an institution;
  6. a document confirming the payment of the administrative fee.

You can also submit other documents, in particular, confirming the right of ownership of housing, employment contract (sublease, lease), etc.).

The certificate is issued for the period of study, which is determined by the order of the university on the establishment of study periods for foreign students.
The estimated cost of the service is 25 US dollars.
